FAQ

What is matcha?

Matcha is a finely ground green tea powder made from shade-grown tea leaves. Unlike regular green tea, where tea leaves are steeped and discarded, matcha allows you to consume the entire leaf - delivering more antioxidants nutrients, and benefits in every cup

Does matcha contain caffeine?

Yes. Matcha naturally contains caffeine - about 30 to 70 mg per serving, depending on the amount used and the quality. That's less than coffee, which has around 95 to 120 mg per cup, but matcha's caffeine is released more slowly thanks to the amino acid L-theanine. This gives you a calm, focused energy without the jitters or crash that often comes with coffee.

Is matcha healthier that coffee?

Many people choose matcha as a healthier alternative to coffee because of its unique nutrient profile. Matcha is naturally rich in:

• ✅ L-theanine – promotes calm focus and reduces stress

• ✅ Antioxidants (EGCG) – supports metabolism and cell protection

• ✅ Chlorophyll – detoxifying and anti-inflammatory properties

• ✅ Vitamin C – immune support

• ✅ Fiber – aids digestion

• ✅ Iron, Zinc & Magnesium – supports energy and wellbeing

These nutrients, along with a gentle caffeine release, make matcha a more balanced choice for sustained energy and overall wellness.

Is your matcha ceremonial grade?

There’s no official grading system for matcha — terms like “ceremonial grade” were created by marketers. In reality, matcha quality varies based on leaf selection, harvest time, and processing. What matters most is taste, freshness, and how you enjoy it. At Green Bubble Matcha, all our blends are made using high-quality, first-harvest tea leaves sourced from Kyoto, Japan — perfect for drinking with hot water or whisking into your daily latte.

Is your matcha organic?

Yes — our matcha is certified organic by OF&G (Organic Farmers & Growers) in the UK. It’s grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. Our tea is shade-grown in small farms in Kyoto, Japan, where traditional methods preserve both the soil quality and the natural biodiversity of the region.

We’re also deeply committed to sustainability:

🌱 We use recyclable packaging wherever possible

♻️ We minimise plastic and unnecessary waste

🌍 Our goal is to offer a product that’s good for you — and the planet.

How do I prepare matcha?

Sift around 1 tsp (2-3g) of matcha into a bowl, add 60–80ml of hot water (not boiling), and whisk until frothy. Add more hot water for traditional ceremony or milk for a delicious latte! Add your preferred sweetener if desired.
